Displaying Radiosities

When radiosities are computed, the user can display results for the incident and outgoing flux for each surface element of the target grid. In addition, it is often useful to display fluxes in terms of their equivalent blackbody temperatures.

Results are displayed by selecting:

Temperatures are defined using the following relations:

where σ is the Stefan-Boltzmann constant.

The radiation temperature can therefore be used to discern the radiation "drive" onto a portion of the target, while the emission temperature can be used to determine the radiation flux emitted by surface elements. The latter can be used to simulate what a detector sees.
